Produced, Revisited (Again)
Earlier this week, Modern Retail wrote about the trend of “ugly ads.” Frequent readers this newsletter will know we think there’s a larger trend at play, which is the move back to highly produced ads.
We’ve cited both consumer and business-to-business examples.
This week, another example from Arc emerged and its timing—the same week as Apple’s Vision Pro began deliveries—feels very tied to this trend.
While we’re admittedly far off from “spatial computing,” we’ll bet on something similar becoming the default for attention.
Do you think “ugly ads” are going to work as well when people feel as if they’re in them?
As we move further into an online world that cuts us off from our analog realities, ads will shift to meet the utopian escape.
Bringing some level of production quality back to them is the first step.
